Working towards ending the abuse of older adults across the Upper Cumberland.

For more than 12 million Americans, food allergies can ruin summer fun at the ballpark, the fair or any outing. A bag of peanuts, frozen dairy product, fresh fruit… all can cause a reaction that could range from mild to more severe and life-threatening. We get advice from Dr. Erin Rohman and Dietician Catherine Winter on how to diagnose an allergy and how to learn to live with one.

Today In The Upper Cumberland: Elder Abuse

Working towards ending the abuse of older adults across the Upper Cumberland.

According to the National Council on Aging approximately 1 in 10 Americans aged 60 and over have experienced some form of elder abuse. Melody Miller and April Hibdon are the co-chairs for the Upper Cumberland Adult Abuse Coalition. They works with various agencies and groups to help report abuse when they can, and assist where needed.

Tennessee Citizens Action is a group that investigates allegations of improper conduct by state and local officials and work to hold them accountable when they don’t comply. Director Andy Spears talks about the challenges they face in working to represent the interest of the public.
