Putnam County – Property Tax Reminder
Feb 28 @ 8:00 am – 9:00 am

Friday, February 28th will be the last day to pay property taxes in person at the Putnam County Trustee’s Office without penalties. Postmarks dated by Saturday the 29th will also be accepted without interest. Beginning March 1, interest will begin to accrue at 1.5 % per month until paid. Persons living in Baxter may also pay at the Bank of Putnam County and Putnam 1st Mercantile Bank Through February 29th. Those living in Monterey can pay at First Volunteer Bank of Bank of Putnam County. You must have your tax statement to pay at banks, and banks are not able to accept tax relief payments. There is still time to apply for tax relief if you think you might qualify. Putnam County Trustee office hours are Monday through Friday from 8 am- 4 pm.

WCTE Announces London Excursion 2020

WCTE and CIE Tours announce that registration is now open for the WCTE 2020 Excursion. Participants in the nine day London Excursion will visit the sites of the popular PBS series Poldark and Doc Martin as well as other locations including Windsor Castle, the Roman Baths and Stonehenge.  The travel dates for this trip are May 19-27. 2020. The Kings Landing Boat Ramp, off Great Falls Road in Warren County, will have sporadic closures throughout March and April for construction and dredging work. The first closure will be March 4 and 5 for the assembly of a lattice-boom crane that will be used for dredging around the dam intake. The ramp will reopen on Friday, March 6. The ramp will close again from March 16 through April 3 for the construction of a permanent crane pad.  The ramp will close for a final dredge work from April 20 through April 24. Legal Aid Society Providing Free Legal Services To Low-Income Individuals In The Upper Cumberland

Are you in need of legal representation? The Legal Aid Society is a nonprofit law firm providing free legal services to low-income individuals in the Upper Cumberland. They do not handle any criminal cases, just civil cases, which include issues such as representing victims of domestic violence, stalking or sexual assault, tenants with landlord/tenant disputes, people with debt problems who are having collection agencies contact them or sue them, consumers who have purchased goods and have issues with the product not working or questions with the financial agreements, homeowners who are struggling to pay their mortgage and are in fear of foreclosure, people who are trying to get or keep public benefits, workers who have been discriminated against, children with disabilities who are trying to get appropriate educational services from school systems or DCS placements, taxpayers who have controversies with the IRS, and seniors over the age of 60 with any of the above problems but also who may be exploited by family members or friends.
