The Rural Health Association of Tennessee advocates on behalf of citizens and those in the profession. Rebecca Jolley serves as Executive Director.

Max Petett comes to Cookeville from across the border in southern Kentucky at Monroe County High School. He will look to bring stability to the principal spot at one of the state’s largest high schools.

TEA President Beth Brown discusses Governor Lee’s Education Savings Account Plan

The idea of vouchers took a step toward approval in the Tennessee Legislature this week. Governor Bill Lee’s Education Savings Account Plan received a 20-13 vote approval in the Tennessee Senate. Education Savings Accounts, or vouchers as they are more often called, provide parents with public money. Most often, the vouchers can be spent on private school education, but sometimes voucher recipients can use the money to fund supplies or educational services. The Tennessee Education Association, which represents teachers, opposes the voucher idea. Beth Brown is TEA President, and a teacher herself in Grundy County.
