Today, April 12th, is National Equal Pay Day. This day changes every year because it’s determined by analyzing how far into the year women have to work to earn what men did the previous year. This year, according to the Department of Labor, that day is today.
Think about that for a second. In order to earn what men made the year before, women have to work an additional three and a half months into the new year. The National Equal Pay Day encourages supporters to wear red on Equal Pay to show they are “in the red” with their pay and to use the hashtag #EqualPayDay when posting to social media.
