New consumer privacy law takes effect in California

The new year is bringing big changes for online consumers in California. The state’s Consumer Privacy Act went into effect on New Year’s Day, and it allows people to ask companies what data they have on them, demand that it be deleted and prevent it from being sold to third parties.
