Drug recovery courts offer non-violent offenders a place to get back on their feet. In the Upper Cumberland, one such court operates in Overton County. We continue our exploration of how recovery courts work, the requirements that are involved, and the success rate with Overton County Judge Daryl Colson.

Judge Daryl Colson discusses the details of the Overton County Recovery Court.

The Overton County Recovery Court serves as a collaboration between the DA’s office, probation, treatment providers, and the General Sessions Court Judge. The Court provides successful alternative sentencing to non-violent misdemeanor drug offenders. It also keeps jail space open for those who do break the law. The clean up and support have been big parts of the tornado aftermath since the March storms roared through Putnam County. Another part of the aftermath has been assessment.
