Congratulations to the 12 year old Putnam County All Stars for coming in second at the state playoffs! They were undefeated in the district tourney in late June to become district champions…Went 5-1 in State Tourney held in Franklin TN to become State Runner-Up. ..defeated Lawrenceburg twice, Bellevue Knights, and 2 other teams to advance to the title game but lost to Bellevue Commodores 15-5 in championship.

Cookeville Children’s Theater is putting on one of the most popular musicals, Fiddler On The Roof.  It begins this Friday, July 11 – July 26.  The story is about Tevye, a milkman, his wife, Golde, and their daughters. Tevye tries to keep his family and their strong religious beliefs in tact as the girls are growing older and wanting the love of a husband.  Some of the local cast members stopped by our Lite Rock 95.9 studios to talk about their characters: Daniel Perlongo plays Tevye, Cassidy Laulo plays his daugher Hodel, Ethan Cross is a teacher named Perchick and Emily McCormick is Golde, the wife of Tevye.  Here I am with the talented cast of Fiddler!

Researchers think they have put together what happened to Amelia Earhart. Evidence is pointing toward a castaway situation. The key piece is a metal repair patch on the plane which shows up on a photo in Miami and they think they found the very piece of plane on Nikumaroro, a tiny uninhabited island between Hawaii and Australia.  Fish, turtle and bird bones found in fire pits may be signs of Amelia Earhart’s last efforts to survive. 

The two jets that were owned by Elvis Presley at the height of his fame, The Lisa Marie and Hound Dog, may be removed from Graceland soon.  Both planes have been a tourist attraction for over 30 years in Memphis.  The Lisa Marie, is like a customized flying limousine, with a large bed, a stereo system, conference room and gold-plated bathroom fixtures. Elvis bought it from Delta Air Lines and his first flight was in November of 1975. The other plane is a bit smaller.  It’s a Jetstar named Hound Dog II.  Earlier this year, Elvis Presley Enterprises announced plans to build a 450-room hotel, theatre and restaurant, with a projected opening date of August 2015.  OKC Partnership, who currently owns the two planes have been  notified to remove them by April of 2015.

The Dancing With The Stars pro and Ryan Seacrest seemed like the cute, perfect couple for the three years they were together and then all of a sudden, splitsville.  What happened? For the first time in its history, the Navy promoted a woman to become a four-star admiral.  Adm. Michelle J. Howard was promoted to her new rank at the Women in Military Service for America Memorial at Arlington National Cemetery. She’ll take over as the vice chief of naval operations, the No. 2 officer in the service. She is not only the first woman to hold the job, but also the first African-American.
