The Rocky Horror Picture Show was released on this date in 1975.  It’s hard to believe next year will be it’s 40th anniversary. This cult classic is the longest-running theatrical release in film history. MAC cosmetics will release a Rocky Horror inspired collection for their 40th anniversary.  It will include lipsticks, lip pencils, eye shadows, glitter, blushes, powders, eyeliner, lashes and be priced from $17 to $44.  It’s available October 2. Just in time for Halloween.

Can you believe it’s been 20 years since the movie “The Shawshank Redemption” opened?  It didn’t fill the seats in the 90’s, perhaps becasue of action films starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Williis. The Morgan Freeman/Tim Robbins classic has had long running success, thougth.  Now it tops IMDB’s top 250 films surpassing movies like, “The Godfather” and “Citizen Kane”.  There’s even a local connection to the actor who portrayed the warden,  Bob Gunton. He was in plays at our own “Cumberland County Playhouse” in Crossville!

Former Titans kicker Rob Bironas was killed in a car accident Saturday in Nashville. He spent 9 seasons with the Titans where he kicked 239 field goals. One of the highlights of his pro football career came in 2006 when he kicked a 60 yard field goal with seconds left to beat the colts. He still holds the nfl record for most field goals made in a game with 8 against the Texans in 2007.  There are lots of great memories involving Rob Bironas if you are a Titans fan. You may have even had the chance to meet him at our 2012 Titans Caravan when he came to town with Jake Locker.  I was lucky enough to interview him.  No “star” attitude with this guy. Just down to earth Rob.  Sweet guy that would always volunteer to help with many charities. Thanks for the great memories, Rob.  You made us all proud.  Will never forget you, your great sportsmanship and your big heart.
