Tennessee Changes The Law About Pets

Beginning this month, Tennesseans can legally break into unattended cars to save dogs from sweltering heat. The change comes after an extension to the state’s “Good Samaritan law,” which lets people crowbar doors or smash windows to rescue children. We can now do the same for pets. To comply with the new law (and qualify for its protection!), would-be rescuers must take certain actions first, such as attempting to find the owner and notifying law enforcement.

Mockingbirds Terrorize Texas

The state bird of Tennessee is terrorizing a town in Texas.  They are turning a quiet neighborhood into a scene out of Alfred Hitchcock’s thriller The Birds from 1963. Residents say it’s not safe to walk down the street because they’ve been attacked by dive-bombing mockingbirds who are protecting a nest of chicks. People have reported being poked in the back by sharp beaks. Others say they’ve been chased by the birds.

Sheila Says: I’ve experienced the wrath of an angry Mockingbird Mama. They are tough.

Marriage Equality Ice Cream

To celebrate the Supreme Court ruling last week that made legalized gay marriage nationwide, Ben & Jerry’s has introduced “I Dough, I Dough” ice cream. It’s actually just their famous chocolate chip cookie dough flavor with a special commemorative sleeve – two cows holding hands with the “o’s” in Dough as wedding rings.

Sheila Says: Bring on the Chocolate Chips. 🙂

Caviar Twinkie

The weird county fair food is even more weird. The latest creation is a twinkee covered with caviar. It’s is an Orange Co, California creation. It’ll cost $125 for ONE twinkie. It was created by the same guy who created the deep fried slim fast bar.

Sheila Says: He needs to study marketing. The clients that like caviar probably wouldn’t eat twinkies. Save the caviar for sushi or fancy crackers.

Acts Of Kindness

A father & daughter in England recently celebrated their birthdays by doing something special, performing 39 random acts of kindness, because 39 is their combined ages. They donated books to the children’s library, gave bubbles to kids, picked up trash in the park and handed out lottery tickets, just to name a few things. Many people are doing the same since hearing about them.

Sheila Says: Finally something good is catching on with others. #ShareTheLove

Bear Cam

I found this bear cam from Katmai National Park in Alaska and thought you’d like checking for bear, too. You can even take a pic from the page and share it with everyone! It is a great website. Even if you don’t see a bear, the scenery is terrific!
