The Nashville Shirt Company has designed a t-shirt to help the families of the Marines killed in the Chattanooga shootings. 100% of the profits will go to the families. The tees feature an outline of the mountains with the words Nooga Strong along with Tennessee’s three star logo.  The  shirts will be put into production next week. They’re currently listed for pre-orders at $25.

Blood Assurance in Cookeville is getting several questions about the need for additional blood to help assist in yesterday’s tragedy in Chattanooga. Erlanger Hospital used an extreme amount of blood during yesterday’s happenings and patients are still continuing to need products. Because Blood Assurance is the sole provider to Erlanger. The Cookeville center of Blood Assurance a 155 West Broad Street will be extending their business hours today (Friday, July 17) to accommodate all those that would like to donate now, until 6:30 or later.

There will be a movie about the life of Joy Mangano, the housewife turned business woman. Mangano is the star of HSN sales. She invented the self-ringing mop and huggable hangers. The all star cast includes Jennifer Lawrence as Joy, Bradley Cooper, Robert DeNiro, Isabella Rossellini, Diane Ladd and Virginia Madsen. “Joy” will debut on Christmas Day.

The Summer Splash 5k is set to be held on July 25 at 7:30 p.m. beginning at the Dogwood Park pavilion. Proceeds from the event will help local cancer patients’ in-need of charitable assistance. The Summer Splash will offer racers the opportunity to cool off along the course at “drenching stations” and “misting stations.” Volunteers at drenching stations will be prepared for racers with buckets of water, water-guns, hoses and more. Registration for one runner is $35. Registration for a team of four is $120.
