The Psychology Behind AMC’s Walking Dead Success

On the heals of the spin-off that debuts this week, FEAR THE WALKING DEAD, I did an interview this week with Dr. Travis Langley. He’s a Professor of Psychology and also a big fan of AMC’s The Walking Dead. In our interview, he talks about why so many people are drawn to this show, their love for Daryl & his crossbow and the hope that comes from a show like this.

Sheila Says: Give it a listen. I think you will find it interesting. It’s a “Don’t Miss” for TWD fans.

Help Local Girl Dani Auberger Represent USA In The Karate World Championships

Congrats to Dani Auberger from Sparta. She made the US National Karate Team and will be traveling to Spain for the World Championships. She needs to raise money for her trip.  I was Ninja attacked by Dani!!  This was left on the windows of Lite Rock 95.9 and I found it this morning. Let’s stop the Ninja attacks and support Dani’s trip to Spain. She’s representing the USA!  Call her Mom Rachel to donate at 931-510-0345

Sheila Says: Help this local girl out so I won’t be attacked by Ninjas. LOL

Graceland Unveiled The New Elvis Stamp

For the second time, the United States post office has put The King on a stamp. The Music Icons: Elvis Presley Commemorative Forever Stamp, features a black-and-white image from 1955. There was a midnight purchase party over night outside the gates of Graceland, with people from all over the world there to purchase the stamps. The first page of stamps went to a lady from Memphis (in the red shirt pictured below). She was excited to be able to buy the first ones.  There was also an unveiling this morning at Graceland with Priscilla Presley there with Postmaster General Megan J. Brennan for the First-Day-of-Issue Dedication Ceremony. The stamp is available now at your local post office.

Elvis’ Private Nurse Writes A Book

Elvis Presley’s private nurse, Letetia Henley Kirk, is writing a book about her life working for him. She lived at Graceland with her husband and 2 daughters. She also traveled with Elvis on tour. The book is titled, “Taking care of Elvis — Memories with Elvis as his private nurse and friend.”  For nearly 40 years, she kept silent about her years with Presley. But Kirk said she changed her mind after a friend convinced her to attend an event during Elvis Week last August in Memphis. The 160-page, soft-cover book sells for $30. You can receive one by mail for $36.50. Contact Kirk at 901-491-8406 or by e-mail at tishsupernurse@gmail.com.
