Sheila Says: Don’t Rake Your Leaves
Leave the leaves! According to the National Wildlife Federation raking leaves is harmful to the environment. They’re used as shelter and food for birds and chipmunks and when you bag them they don’t get enough oxygen to decompose, instead they wind up in a landfill where they create methane gas, which creates global warming.
Sheila’s Pets Of The Week: BFF’s Dartanian & Sundae
These two sweeties need to be adopted together. The calico, Sundae, is a bit shy. Dartanian takes care of her and brings her out of her shell. She’s very sweet but isn’t as confident as Dartanian. They love to bathe each other and lay together. Both kitties came in together at the shelter. The owner surrendered due to her dog not approving. It was not fault of the cats. They are loving kitties. Adopt them at the Cookville/Putnam County Shelter on Gainesbore Grade next to Hyder Burks Pavilion.

The Tennessee Titans fired head coach Ken Whisenhunt this morning. He’ll be replaced by Mike Mularkey as the interim head coach for the remainder of the season. “After thoughtful consideration, the decision has been made to relieve Ken Whisenhunt of his head coaching duties,” Titans controlling owner Amy Adams Strunk said. “We have expected more progress on the field, and I felt it was time to move in a different direction. I would like to thank Ken for his efforts with our team, as he worked very hard to try to move us forward.”
