Sheila’s Pet Of The Week: Chewey The Chihuahua

Chewey is a tiny little thing with big confidence. He looks so pretty on a leash prancing when he walks. Such a happy dog. He’s about 6 years old and needs his forever home.

Sheila Says: Local Amazing Race Beauty Queen Helps Ophans

Kelly McCorkle Parkison competed in CBS’s The Amazing Race and on the Miss America stage, becoming Miss South Carolina. She’s now a resident of Cookeville and is a pastor’s wife (Steven Street Baptist Church Cookeville). She and her husband Scott Parkison have five young children. Her new book “He Knows Her Name: An Amazing Pursuit to Adopt From India” is now available on Amazon (click smile amazon when you order and designate loft 218 to donate to her charity). .Another neat part of Kelly’s story is that she was diagnosed with severe learning disabilities as a child and was told she may never graduate from high school. So she gives God all the glory for becoming a published author! Kelly talked about all of this with me and how the proceeds of her book will go to build an orphanage.

Sheila Says: This Little Boy Shows Us Chivalry

It was a sweet moment at a Miami Marlins game when a little boy gave the foul boy he just caught to a little girl sitting by him. She had the biggest smile ever upon receiving the gift. PRICELESS.  These two will probably be married in about 15 years.

Sheila Says: Now You Can Smell Like A Jedi

Guys there are new colognes for you and perfumes for women, too. A European perfume company has released a line of Star Wars themed fragrances. The men’s colognes are called “Empire” and “Jedi”. According to the company’s website, “Empire” will “cover you with an aura of masculinity and power” and “capture the dark side of the Force.” The “Jedi” scent, on the other hand, is “swaggering, fearless flair” and has a “seductive blend of pink pepper” and “sensual notes of musk and sandalwood.”

– The female fragrance is called Amidal with elegant and sensual notes of vanilla, musk, and patchouli that are complemented by a fruity top note of apple and tangerine and merges into a sovereign seductive aura for any situation by day and by night.

I’m surprised they didn’t name one of the colognes Chewbaccaa

Sheila Says: Man Tries To Smuggle Pet Iguana Into Court

The Boulde Colorado Justice Center allows service animals into the building, but security guards drew the line when someone tried to sneak his pet iguana through the X-ray machine. The pet’s owner was turned away and waited outside for his friends to come out of the courthouse.

This photo provided by the Boulder County Sheriffs Department shows an X-ray image of an iguana. Sheriff’s spokeswoman Carrie Haverfield said that security staff caught the reptile as it passed through the machine Friday, June 17, 2016. The pet’s owner was turned away and waited outside for his friends to come out of the courthouse. The sheriff’s department tweeted an X-ray image of the iguana, or at least its skeletal outline, inside a bag. Haverfield says people have tried to sneak dogs, cats and mice into the building. Sheila Says: Kindness From Mister Rogers

It’s what we all need right now…….Kindness……Love……….Hope. It’s simple and yet so true. There will always be helpers. Look for the helpers. To me, there are a lot more helpers than the “bad guys”. It’s just that when they’re bad these days, they are REALLY bad and hurt many people. Concentrate on the good. It’s there.

Christina Grimmie, who was a Team Adam singer who finished in the Top 3 on The Voice two years ago, was shot to death in Orlando, Florida after a performance there Friday night. Her suspected killer, a 27-year-old Florida man, was tackled by her brother but still managed to kill himself. Police are investigating the motive. Evidence is pointing to him being a deranged fan. Christina was only 22.

Here is a video she recorded herself around Easter 2012. She said, “Easter is one of my faaaaaavorite holidays! JESUS CHRIST IS MY LORD AND SAVIOR and I’m not at all ashamed of it.”

Sheila’s Pet Of The Week: Toby The Cat

This is a big, beautiful kitty. His long hair makes him look a bit like a black & white lion. He is very friendly and sweet. His purr is as big as he is! He would do well in a home without small children. If you’d like to take this massive beauty home with you, Toby is up for adoption at the Cookeville/Putnam County Animal Shelter, 2650 Gainesboro Grade, Cookeville.

Many thanks to Matthew & Shawn Krist for introducing us to Toby the Cat.
