Japanese protest U.S. bases in Okinawa after woman’s death

The U.S. military in Japan faces new protests after an American Marine veteran is accused of murdering a young Japanese woman. Tens of thousands of Japanese rallied Sunday on the island of Okinawa, calling for the removal or reduction of the military bases there. Okinawans insist they’re not anti-American, but many are against American bases, and their grievances date back to the end of World War II. Adriana Diaz reports. Source

Debating the science of legal medical marijuana

Attitudes towards the healing potential of pot are changing. First on “CBS This Morning,” a new survey from Prevention magazine found that 75 percent of Americans think medical marijuana should be legal. Thirty-five percent would be “extremely” or very likely to use medical pot if advised by a doctor. CBS News medical contributor Dr. Holly Phillips joins “CBS This Morning” to discuss the debate. Cleveland’s 52-year championship drought finally over

Thousands attend Orlando vigil one week after massacre

An estimated 50,000 people gathered in Orlando Sunday night for a vigil, singing and raising their candles to honor the 49 victims who died. Forty-nine bells were tolled at 2 a.m. on Sunday, exactly one week after the attack began. Jamie Yuccas reports. Source

Actor Anton Yelchin dies after being pinned by SUV

Anton Yelchin’s death on Sunday could reveal a possible danger with some recalled SUVs. Yelchin was 27 and best known for the new “Star Trek” movies. His SUV pinned him against a fence at his home in Studio City, California. Kris Van Cleave reports. Source
