Maine secretary of state explains decision to bar Trump from state’s primary ballot

Maine Secretary of State Shenna Bellows ruled Thursday former President Donald Trump was disqualified from appearing on the state’s primary ballot. In an interview with CBS News, Bellows cited Trump’s role in the Jan. 6, 2021, assault on the U.S. Capitol as the reason. Chinese spy balloon used U.S. internet provider, report says

U.S. intelligence officials have determined the Chinese spy balloon that flew over several states earlier this year used an American internet provider to send and receive messages mostly related to navigation, according to a new report. CBS News correspondent Skyler Henry discussed the report and President Biden’s response to Russia carrying out what Ukraine calls the “most massive aerial attack” of the war. Source

DOJ threatens to sue Texas over state’s strict immigration law

The Justice Department warned Texas Gov. Greg Abbott it would file a lawsuit if the state implements its strict immigration law known as SB4. The measure, which Abbott signed into law earlier this month, will allow state and local law enforcement to arrest, jail and prosecute migrants suspected of entering the U.S. unlawfully.
