Earthquake damage and a fiery plane collision in Japan

Japanese authorities are assessing the scale of the damage from a string of powerful earthquakes that hit the country’s northwest coast. At least 48 people were killed and thousands of buildings were damaged. An airliner that landed at a Tokyo airport also burst into flames after colliding with another plane on the runway. Israel announces some troop withdrawals from Gaza; Netanyahu judicial reform dealt blow

Thousands of Israeli troops will be withdrawing from the Gaza Strip, the IDF has announced, but Israel’s offensive there is expected to continue for months, possibly until the end of 2024. Meanwhile, Israel’s Supreme Court has struck down a key part of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s controversial judicial reform measures. CBS News foreign correspondent Ian Lee has more. Source
