Director Lulu Wang on exploring collectivism vs. individualism in “The Farewell”

The new movie “The Farewell” is getting praise for its touching portrait of a family. It tells the story of family members coping with the news their grandmother has terminal cancer. Comedian and rapper Awkwafina plays Billi, her granddaughter, who struggles with keeping the secret. The film’s writer and director, Lulu Wang, joins “CBS This Morning” to talk about her breakout film and how it was inspired by her own family. Source

Father charged after 1-year-old twins die in hot car

A funeral will take place today for 1-year-old twins who died after their father left them in a hot car, apparently by accident. Juan Rodriguez is charged with manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide, and endangering the welfare of a child. There have been 24 hot car deaths this year, after 52 in 2018. FCC passes new rules against “spoof” robocalls

There’s a big push to crack down on annoying robocalls from overseas. The Federal Communications Commission approved new rules surrounding those illegal calls. Technology makes it easy for scammers to keep dialing to get money, and they may be using your number to do it. Kris Van Cleave reports. Source

Trump downplays new missile tests from North Korea

South Korea says North Korea fired two more short-range missiles into the Sea of Japan. It was Pyongyang’s third missile test in eight days. Talks aimed at de-nuclearizing North Korea have stalled since President Trump’s meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un last year. Source
