Mark Esper sworn in as defense secretary

The Senate voted to confirm President Trump’s pick to lead the Department of Defense, Mark Esper. The Senate overwhelmingly voted 90-8 to confirm him. Esper, who had been serving as Army secretary, is now expected to be successfully installed as the Pentagon’s newest chief — replacing acting Defense Secretary Patrick Shanahan. Source

Trump administration considering cutting food stamps

The Trump administration is proposing a rule that would limit Americans’ access to food stamps, reportedly removing more than 3 million people from the federal program. Trump sues to block release of his New York state tax returns

President Trump has filed a lawsuit against the House Ways and Means Committee and New York state officials in an attempt to keep them from getting their hands on his state tax returns. Mr. Trump escalated the already contentious fight over his tax returns Tuesday, filing the lawsuit in federal court in Washington. Source
