“48 Hours” goes inside the investigation of infamous “Hollywood Ripper” serial killer

In October, jurors in Los Angeles will consider whether to give the serial killer known as the “Hollywood Ripper” the death penalty. Michael Gargiulo was convicted of committing a string of brutal attacks on young women, and the case is the subject of a special two-hour season premiere of “48 Hours.” Correspondent Maureen Maher joined “CBSN AM” to discuss how she helped break the case wide open. Google Earth helps solve 22-year-old cold case in Florida

A missing man’s remains were finally found thanks to someone who zoomed in on his former Florida neighborhood with Google satellite images and noticed a car submerged in a lake. The skeletal remains were of William Moldt, who went missing in 1997 at the age of 40, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office. Source

U.S’s oldest living WWII veteran celebrates his 110th birthday

This year marked the 75th anniversary of D-Day, the invasion in Normandy that ultimately led to Germany’s surrender. Today, about 500,000 American WWII veterans who served in Europe, the Pacific and other places are still living – but one U.S. veteran has been living longer than them all.
