U.S. collecting DNA from some migrants

The federal government is now forcing some migrants in custody to give DNA samples. The controversial pilot program promoted by the Trump administration kicked off Monday. Border Patrol agents have been instructed to collect DNA through cheek swabs at two entry points on the U.S. borders with Canada and Mexico. In some cases, that includes migrants as young as 14. FBI investigating drones flying over Colorado and other states

The FBI is helping investigate the growing mystery of unidentified drones flying over Colorado and Nebraska. The drones have been spotted buzzing hundreds of feet in the air at night. Investigators are looking for a suspicious vehicle to help track down who is responsible. Janet Shamilian reports. Source

Calls for prison reform in Mississippi after inmate murders and escapes

Over the last 10 days, five inmates were killed in different Mississippi state prisons. At one troubled site called Parchman Farm, two violent inmates escaped last week, but have since been caught. Thousands left homeless in Australia as new fires threaten

Victims of the massive bushfires in Australia are returning to their neighborhoods and seeing the destruction firsthand. Insurers report there is nearly half a billion U.S. dollars in damage, and that estimate is expected to rise. Crews are still racing to get the upper hand, before strong gusts and sweltering heat threaten to intensify the fires later this week. Jamie Yuccas reports. Source
