Mississippi state prisons under investigation after series of deaths
Four Mississippi state prisons are the focus of a federal civil rights investigation after a series of inmate deaths. At least 15 people have died inside state facilities since late December and as recently as last weekend. The probe will explore whether prison officials have done enough to adequately protect inmates from physical harm. The quality of mental health care and suicide prevention efforts are also under investigation. Source

Hollywood legend Kirk Douglas dies at 103
Kirk Douglas, one of the last surviving movie stars of Hollywood’s legendary Golden Age, passed away at age 103 on Wednesday. Douglas, who was admired for his looks and respected for his intensity, starred in classics such as “Spartacus.” Born to Russian immigrant parents in 1916, Douglas went into acting after serving in World War II.
