Mary Day’s deathbed story of survival
In June 2017, Seaside PD’s Judy Veloz took over the Mary Day case and went to Missouri to speak to a dying Mary. During their conversation, Mary filled in the gaps of what happened after she vanished from her parents’ Seaside home in 1981. Mary Day passed away 9 days later. After conducting her investigation, Veloz closed the case. She told “48 Hours”’ Maureen Maher about her visit. Source
Mary Day’s mother to police: “Life is full of regrets”
On February 14, 2003, Mary Day’s mother, Charlotte Houle, spoke to a Riley County Police detective in Kansas. Throughout the interview, Houle maintained that although she did not take steps to find her 13-year-old daughter, she had nothing to do with Mary’s disappearance in 1981.
