It’s been just over two months since wildfires burned through Los Angeles, killing more than two dozen people and displacing tens of thousands. California officials say they’ve finished cleaning up nearly all of the toxic debris, but the rebuilding efforts are just getting underway. Federal judge blocks deportation of Palestinian activist Mahmoud Khalil

A federal judge has blocked the deportation of a Palestinian activist and Columbia University graduate whom federal immigration agents arrested in New York on Saturday. Mahmoud Khalil, who helped lead pro-Palestinian protests at Columbia in 2024, has not been formally charged with a crime and is a permanent U.S. resident with a green card.
