Protests swept the country for the fifth straight day following the death of George Floyd. In cities throughout the U.S., largely peaceful protests gave way to violent clashes between police and demonstrators throughout the night as fires were set and businesses were looted. WCCO photographer arrested covering protests
Tom Aviles, an award-winning photographer with CBS Minnesota, was arrested and struck by a rubber bullet while covering protests in Minneapolis. The station recorded the confrontation as he told officers he was a member of the media and said “I’m not fighting” as police pushed him to the ground. Source
