“Lift Every Voice and Sing”

Introduced in 1900 as a poem by African-American educator and activist James Weldon Johnson to mark Abraham Lincoln’s birthday, and later set to music by John Rosamond Johnson, “Lift Every Voice and Sing” was adopted by the NAACP as a song of faith and freedom. Charges filed against Atlanta police officers involved in death of Rayshard Brooks

The former Atlanta police officer who shot and killed Rayshard Brooks last week is being charged with felony murder. The Fulton County District Attorney announced the charge and 10 others Wednesday. A second officer is being charged with aggravated assault, and has agreed to be the state’s witness. Reverend James “Major” Woodall, the president of the NAACP in Georgia, joins Elaine Quijano on CBSN’s “Red & Blue” to discuss the latest developments. Source
