Cookeville’s Fourth Of July Celebration is back….and better than ever. Celebrate our nation’s birthday with two days of activities downtown and at the Putnam County Fairgrounds. Bookmark this page for all the latest on the celebration – presented by Lite Rock 95.9, Rock 93-7, 106-9 Kicks Country, and Cookeville’s News Talk 100.9/AM 1600.

Special thanks to the City Of Cookeville, Putnam County, the Putnam County Fair Board, and Cityscape for their extensive work in planning Cookeville’s Fourth Of July Celebration.

Come Hungry When You Come Downtown For The Fourth

4th foodWhen you make your way downtown, grab lunch from local restaurants and charities that will be setup across from the Library and Dogwood Park. It’s a great way to enjoy a picnic in Dogwood Park.

And great holiday food choices too! You can enjoy:

Cookeville Jaycees: Ice pops

Cream City: Ice cream

Helen’s Restaurant: Hamburgers, hotdogs, chicken tenders, fried pickles, fries

Party Source: Popcorn, cotton candy, sno-cones

Yard Birds: Boneless wings, smoked pork, jerked chicken, cheesesteak, cucumber salad, loaded BBQ, brisket, homemade sloppy joes

This area will also include bouncies and activities for the kids.

July 4th Weekend Traffic And Parking Downtown

traffic and Parking 200x200With Cookeville’s 4th of July Celebration set for this weekend, there will be some road closures to be aware of especially in the downtown area. Please take note of these closings Friday and Saturday:

Broad Street, from the US Post Office to Washington Avenue

Fleming Avenue

Dixie Avenue, between Spring Street and Boyd Street

Madison Avenue, between Spring Street and Boyd Street

Jefferson Avenue, between Spring Street and Boyd Street

In addition, Broad Street will be closed Saturday morning between the Cookeville Depot and US Post Office for the 4th Of July Parade.

Finally, Veterans Drive will not be open to thru traffic Saturday night between Jefferson Avenue and Walnut Street due to fireworks.
